Lamisil® is a prescription antifungal medication, used to treat fungal infections, such as athlete’s foot and jock itch. The active ingredient in Lamisil® is terbinafine hydrochloride, a potent antifungal agent. Terbinafine is a synthetic derivative of dihydrofolic acid and is available in tablet form. Lamisil® may also be available in vaginal cream, ringworm, and as a topical treatment. Lamisil® is a topical antifungal that may be used for superficial or distant fungal or yeast infections of the skin, nails, or scalp.
Lamisil® is an allylamine derivative. It works by stopping the growth of fungus and treating the affected areas by preventing fungal cell death. Terbinafine is available as oral tablet and is an oral suspension. Terbinafine is available as a cream, ringworm cream, or ointment. It is available in tablets, creme, and ointment form. Terbinafine may be used alone or with other antifungal medications.
Lamisil® is used to treat fungal infections of the skin including on the hands, wrists, elbows, feet, knees, ankles, and lower back. It can also be used to treat fungal infections of the nails. Lamisil® is also used to treat athlete’s foot (tinea pedis) and jock itch (tinea cruris). The active ingredient in Lamisil® is terbinafine hydrochloride. Lamisil® should be taken on an empty stomach or after a light meal. The stomach may not work as well if you take it after a light meal.
Lamisil® tabletsLamisil® tablets are taken orally with a meal to prevent absorption of the active ingredient. The tablets are usually taken once daily, with or without food. The medication may be taken on an empty stomach. The tablet should be swallowed whole with water. To reduce the chance of stomach upset, take the tablet with food. Do not chew, crush, or break the tablet. It is best to start the treatment as soon as symptoms appear. Continue to take the medication for as long as directed. If symptoms do not improve within a few days, or if they worsen or become worse, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Lamisil® can be taken as a single daily dose. You should take Lamisil on an empty stomach or after a light meal.
Lamisil® may not work well for everyone. It is especially important not to take Lamisil® if you have certain medical conditions, such as liver problems, kidney problems, or who have a history of drug abuse. Before using Lamisil, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding. Lamisil may not be right for you if you are taking Lamisil for fungal or yeast infections. Your doctor may need to adjust the dosage or frequency of Lamisil®.
Before using Lamisil, tell your doctor if you have or have ever had any of the following conditions:

Directions
Apply Lamisil Spray once a day for 7 days
1. Clean and thoroughly dry the affected areas of the skin
2. Hold the bottle upright or upside down, and spray sufficient amount to wet the treatment area thoroughly, covering the affected skin and surrounding area
3. If you need to apply Lamisil® Spray between your toes, fingers or buttocks; under a breast or armpit; or in the groin region, cover the area with gauze after the spray has been applied. This is particularly useful at bedtime.

Precautions
Lamisil Spray should only be applied to the skin on the outside of the body. Wash hands thoroughly after application to avoid infecting other parts of your body.
While the signs of the infection may disappear after using Lamisil Spray for only a few days, it is important to continue treatment for the recommended period. If you use it for only a few days, you may not eliminate the fungi from the affected areas. As a result, the infection may return soon after you stop using the product.
